God has put together an excellent staff at ReCAST and it has been a joy to serve alongside of each and every person. So here are five reasons I love our staff at ReCAST Church.
1. We Work Well Together
All of the staff have worked through the Strengthsfinder and we have a hodge-podge of different strengths that compliment each other well in a church staff. The dynamics when we get together are sometimes humorous, but we have grown to know each other well enough to be able to talk through things in way that helps get things done. Each person has a passion for their area of responsibility and when we bring that together as a staff, the church is well cared for. But doing well in our areas is not the only thing that makes for a good staff.
2. We Have a Genuine Interest in Ministry Areas Outside of Our Responsibilities.
One of the primary reasons we have a staff meeting each week, is for updates on the various areas of our ministry responsibilities. There is little cross over between corporate worship under Dave Bunt, and children’s Ministry under Jackie Kline, but during staff meetings we all interact in a way that helps each other to think through our own areas of responsibility. It also happens from time to time that we can speak something helpful into a situation that isn’t within our own ministry area.
3. We Laugh a lot Together
Staff meetings don’t need to be fun. They could be a routine business meeting with details and organization for the week. But at ReCAST, our staff meetings resemble a three ring circus (without the clowns, because clowns are scary). Dave takes the lead on the fun, with Nathan and myself trying to catch up with Him. Jackie and Hope just look on, while Linda tries to crack the whip and get us back on task. It’s quite entertaining despite being somewhat predictable. We should maybe sell popcorn and invite an audience.
4. We Genuinely Pray for the Church Together
We conclude every staff meeting with prayer for the church and Linda has done an excellent job sending emails asking for prayer request from a member list each week. So we pray through the membership every few couple of months. We have a lot of fun together, but we also take God seriously. And we know that prayer is the most valuable thing we do for the church.
5. We Love and Sacrifice for the Church Together
Our staff serves ReCAST Church with a willing and joyful service. I have never encountered a begrudging heart or attitude. I have never heard criticism of the flock in our meetings. I have never heard anything that even resembled gossip or slander. ReCAST Church, your staff loves you and loves God. We want to serve you as we are all growing in faith, community, and service. We are open to your questions and concerns and would be eager to address those with you. Every member of our staff is approachable, and would be eager to interact with you about their area of ministry.
I am overjoyed with the staff that God has brought together here, and I consider it a privilege to serve alongside of this hilarious gang of servants of Christ.
