Every Good Gift

God has given some good things to you.  I just know that He has.  He has been so kind and merciful to me.  And I can certainly dive deep into the atonement, His gift of His Son to save me, His adoption of me into His family.

The big things deserve big thanks.  But what about the ‘small’ graces?  Do they deserve ‘less’ thanks?  This morning I am writing this blog outside in the sunshine on the sidewalk of a small town café.  I am sipping a latte made for me by my daughter.  The birds are singing.  And my heart feels full.

I am grateful for coffee.  I am thankful for sunshine in the springtime.  I am thankful for a beautiful wooded property given to me by God in which to offer Him my praise.

I am thankful for the little church He has given me the grace to lead in this little town.  I am grateful for men in the church seeking to lead their families.  I am thankful for women seeking to nurture the next generation in the Lord.  I am thankful for an older generation investing in younger people.  I am thankful for a proliferation of new life as the church nursery continues to be full.

I am thankful for the calm relaxation of a pipe at the end of the day.  And I rejoice that God has given us good in this earth to enjoy.  Honey for sweetness.  Smoke for the meats.  Blue for the sky . . . And the color green, which is everywhere this time of the year in Michigan. In the words of one of my favorite Christian artists, ‘He has filled this world with wonders around every turn!’

The little things cannot remain little blessings when you realize that they come from the hand of an Almighty and Holy God!

What are some of the little things you enjoy?  How about giving Him some public thanks for those little blessings today.
