Women’s D-Group – Acts
The goal in E-Groups is to grow in the knowledge of God and His Word. While community certainly happens in these groups, growth in knowledge and study is the emphasis here.
Join Julie Perrine and Deidre Thompson as they lead this group of women through a study in the Book of Acts, Tara-Leigh Cobble’s D-Group program.
This group will meet on Thursday evenings and will begin on September 11th with our launch party in room 5/6 at ReCAST. This includes food of some sort and getting to know the ladies in the group as well as getting assigned your prayer partner. This group will run for 10 weeks, not including the launch party.
Below you will find a description of how this group is run, the cost involved, and the commitment. If this sounds like something that will work with your current time schedule, we would LOVE to have you join us!
This D group started off being affiliated with Tara-Leigh Cobble and D-Group International (D is for disciple). This is a wonderful program and we will continue with some of the core values of D-group International because they fit so well with the core values for ReCAST Church.
D Group International core values are as follows:
1. Scripture as Roots
2. Community as Fruit
3, Bring your wins and losses
4. Walk in the Light
5. Live beyond yourself.
We plan on continuing these core values as we branch out on our own, so to speak. D-Group is committed to knowing God, and knowing scripture, so having a personal relationship with God is essential for getting the most out of this study. You do not need to be a theology major, but will need a desire to dig into scripture on a consistent basis to get the most out of this study. We will be memorizing a section of scripture from Acts. We will learn a new verse every week and continue to build on that verse week after week. We say these verses out loud. There is no judging and there is always much grace! By the end of the 10 week session you should be able to recite about 10 verses in a row!
This study is a commitment, and we need you present. We understand that there are good reasons to miss Bible study such as illness, surgery, etc. We discourage you from missing if it’s because it’s too dark/cold out or you’re too tired. When winter hits it can be hard sometimes to go back out, but we work best when all of our members are present.
Prayer IS important to us. You will be given a prayer partner/s for 10 weeks. You will be with this prayer partner for 30 minutes every meeting, going through confession, prayer, and praise. This can be scary, but as many can tell you, this has been surprisingly THE most uplifting and cool thing about this group. We also have what is called a “prayer chair” that can be utilized at the end of the meeting. There are times where life has us completely overwhelmed. Your prayer partner will speak up for you at the end, requesting the prayer chair for you. You would then sit in a chair with all the ladies gathered around you and you will provide a short (30 sec) synopsis of what is going on. We then would lay hands on you and pray for you. As with most prayer groups, whatever is mentioned in the group, stays in the group – forever.
Service and socials are also important and fun! We try as a group to do one service project and one social get together. We ask for volunteers to help us organize these so bring any ideas that you may have!
You will need to order a book from Amazon for the study, this should be the only cost for materials. Here is the link https://a.co/d/6pddQw9
We communicate using the Groupme app. We can help you download and get set up on our launch party night.
