The Decay in The Whitewashed Tomb
We can talk about all kinds of issues facing our culture. The news outlets will spew forth a steady stream of political problems, military conflicts, fallen leaders, murderous rampages, weather-related disasters, and dumb things our leadership says!
But my heart is heavy this morning with one thing that has been in front of me through my reading, through some social media posts, and through a news podcast I listened to recently. My heart and mind have been working over the topic of the murder of the unborn.
If God still judges cultures and societies, how will we stand? The most common cause of death of children in America is abortion. Our hunger for bodily Autonomy, for Convenience, and for Ease has resulted in the murder of millions of us.
It is truly staggering when I consider the river of sludge running just below the surface of our “clean” and “moral” society. There is a sinister darkness boiling just beneath our pious platitudes and noble and valiant purposes.
Abortion remains a scourge on our society. It rarely makes the news anymore, because it has the endorsement of the empathetic elites. But it is a damnable blight. And as long as it is a common practice, America cannot possess the moral high ground.
God is still sovereign. So I can enjoy the sunshine today. But God is still sovereign. And so I fear for this nation that I love.
