The Pastor’s Wife
Last week my wife spent a few days near the Florida-Alabama border with several others ladies from the church. The event was for women and was called Bible at the Beach with Nanny G (Nancy Guthrie for normal people).
And while I missed my wife, I was glad for the time she was able to get away and connect with good solid Bible teaching, make memories with other ladies, and even just spend some time relaxing away from home. I want my wife to grow strong in Scripture. I want her to have strong friendships within the church. And I want her to have times to relax and get away!
Here in this month of pastor appreciation, I would like to draw attention to the unsung heroes of many churches . . . The pastor’s wives. Linda has been an incredible helper in life and in ministry. She has been a blessing to ReCAST Church in many ways that are never seen up front.
I believe that a pastor cannot stand long if his wife is not supportive of his ministry. In 20 years of pastoral ministry I have encountered pastors who are married to a woman who is apathetic toward the calling of their husband. This will never bode well.
And so I am so incredibly thankful for a wife that understands ministry. Supports ministry. Loves people. And takes opportunities to get away with other women to grow. Linda is a blessing to me. And for anyone who reads this blog to the end, maybe consider a note of encouragement to your pastor’s wife. She has a unique work that often adds emotional and spiritual burden to everything else that she has going on.
I am so thankful for a godly wife. Who loves the church. Who loves the Lord. And who loves me.
